A 2D photonic crystal lattice was created by tip enhancement of femtosecond laser. These kind of devices are relevant for optical comutation, as they can be used for designing and implementing logical gates for photonic circuits.
The created lattice was investigated via AFM and s-SNOM, the results are displayed below.
Using modified programs available online (original programs are available here and here), we computed the band diagram and several field distribution in the unit cell. The results are shown below.
